NJ Transit has eliminated the Newark Airport surcharge for monthly rail tickets, at least temporarily:
MONTHLY ACCESS FEE WAIVED AT NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Beginning September 1, 2007, the $40 access fee will be waived on NJ TRANSIT monthly rail passes to/from Newark Liberty International rail station.

NJ Transit’s Board of Directors meets today at 9:00 AM, and they are likely to approve a 10% fare increase, effective June 1.

Trains will operate on a regular weekday schedule today. But since today is a state holiday, Off-Peak Round-Trip Tickets will be valid on all trains. That’s a good excuse to take a ride, if you don’t have to work.
